Gerber Legendary Blades has been a market leader in Multi Tool Design right from the rebirth of these tools back in the 80’s. Joseph Gerber started the company in 1939. Today they’re based in Tigard Oregon. Gerber Multi Tools are the second biggest seller and with good reason. The Gerber Multi Tool is distinct from other multi tools with its unique slide out pliers that come straight out of the end of the tool.

Gerber offer a huge range of multi tools some that are bewilderingly specialized such as the Gerber Demolition Explosives Tool.

Outstanding models from Gerber include:

Filk: A more compact version of the Freehand. Sturdy sliding pliers and all the blades accessible form the outside. Includes one plain blade, one serrated, wood saw and Fiskar Scissors. Along with these main tools the Flik also has Phillips and a Flathead  driver that has a bottle opener attached, can opener and lanyard ring. This is overall a good one hand tool for medium weight use.

Splice. This is a small tool but has heaps of grunt. It has the same number of components as the Shortcut and although 10% smaller is a better tool. Features: Scissors, Plain-edge blade,  Serrated blade,  Phillips screwdriver, 2-sided File, Bottle opener,Large slotted screwdriver,  Small slotted screwdriver, Lanyard ring. The handles are made from steel with aluminum scales.

Diesel. With this tool Gerber have solved their issues with rattly pliers and put an end to the pinching from the handles we used to get when holding thin objects with the pliers. The Diesel is a well equipped with a combination serated/plain blade, grunty wood saw. The scissors are longer with more leverage than the previous Scout model. Overall it is a more solidly built tool than the Scout
